- MOHAMMED RASOOLDEEN

RIYADH: Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told a senior visiting Saudi delegation on Wednesday that her country would lend maximum support to the Kingdom in the fight against terror, and to spread the message of Islam worldwide.

Mohammad Al-Khuzaim, vice president of the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, and Abdulmohsin Al-Qasim, imam and preacher at the Prophet’s Mosque, met with Hasina at her office in the capital Dhaka. The Bangladeshi ambassador in Riyadh, Golam Moshi, accompanied the Saudi delegation and introduced its members to her.

Hasina said terrorists are maligning the reputation of Islam, a “religion of peace,” and expressed hope that Muslims worldwide would live in peace.

Bangladeshi workers in Saudi Arabia are contributing to the economies of both countries, she said, expressing hope that historic bilat- eral relations will be broadened and strengthened in the coming days.

Al- Khuzaim praised development initiatives in Bangladesh over the last eight years, and said Hasina has done a lot for Muslims and her people.

The Saudi scholars are scheduled to attend a gathering of Bangladeshi Islamic scholars and clerics on Thursday as special guests. Hasina is slated to be the chief guest, and Religious Affairs Minister Motiur Rahman will preside over the gathering.
