IMC eyes championship double in Kalayaan Volleyball Cup 3rd Conference

IMC men set the tone of the day by beating Jeddah Blue Spikers in the first men’s semifinal. IMC bucked a slow start to eliminate Jeddah Blue in an extended contest 18-25, 25-15, 15-10.

The IMC victory sets up a championship clash with defending champion Jeddah United HittersUGAFCO, which had little trouble disposing of Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital (DSFH) Fusion 25-20, 25-22.

The IMC’s women’s team asserted itself in the deciding set to put away pesky Volleyball Stars 25-15, 26-28, 15-7 and arrange a championship tussle against defending champion King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC).

KAMC hammered out a seeming- ly procedural 25-19, 25-15 victory over DSFH which will be hoping to salvage at least third place after losing its semifinal in both divisions.

While IMC salivates at the prospect of two titles Jeddah United Hitters and KAMC are standing in the way with their own agenda.

Jeddah United Hitters and KAMC Lady Spikers are aiming to complete a seven-game title sweep in their respective divisions. Both championship games will be a bestof-five affair.

The week’s Best Player of the game winners were: Women’s division — Analyn C. Cabillan (IMC) and Sharon Estores (KAMC Lady Spikers) Men’s Division — Ahmed Al Nemer (IMC) and Glenn Abutin ( Jeddah United Hitters-UGAFCO).

The tournament is organized by Dreamstar Productions for Sports under the leadership of Al Moran Bacleon and supported by sponsors Fawri-MoneyGram, OSN, SMDC, Emirates Airlines, Giordano, Indomie and Pepsi.
