LuLu holds mango festival across the Kingdom
LuLu Hypermarket’s annual mango festival got underway at all its outlets Thursday. The seventh edition of the week-long festival at the newly- opened LuLu Hypermarket in Al-Ahsa was inaugurated by Eissa Al- Rashid Al-Tamimi, member of Hail Municipal Corporation, on Wednesday.
Similar inaugural functions for the mango festival took place in all the LuLu hypermarkets across Saudi Arabia. The festival features more than 70 varieties of mangoes ranging from Alphonso and Rajapuri to Malgova. Most varieties come from India, one of the largest producers and exporters of the fruit.
Alphonso and Kesar, which are known for their uniqueness, are popular across the world. Badami, Dusari, Totapuri and several other varieties including organic mangoes are available at LuLu outlets in Riyadh, Dammam, Jubail, Hail, Jeddah and Al-Ahsa. There are also home-grown varieties from Saudi Arabia.
An exclusive range of processed mango products made in Saudi Arabia is on offer. The festival is also featuring mangoes imported from Sri Lanka, Uganda, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa, Malaysia, Brazil, Ivory Coast and Yemen. The display includes a range of mango-based products, such as mango raita, custard, chutneys, pickles, juices and biryani.
Mango flavored ice creams and bakery products are also available on special promotions.
“I am very happy to see a variety of mangoes from India as it accounts for 60 percent of the global mango production. Saudi Arabia is a major destination for Indian mangoes and related products,” Eissa Al-Rashid Al-Tamimi said.
Bashar Naser Al-Bashar, head of administration, LuLu Hypermarkets, said: “Summer is synonymous with mangoes. We want to give our customers a variety and choice at great value.”
The inaugural festivals at LuLu Hypermarkets in Riyadh and Al-Ahsa were attended by a large number of Saudi officials, local businessmen, and LuLu executives.
