Toshi claims Team of Week honors in OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6

JEDDAH: It is back to normal service after weeks of headline-grabbing feats by Expendabow­ls as Toshi clinched Team of the Week honors during the 14th session in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.

Toshi, long trying to topple league leader Nilobabes at the top of the team standings, gained further ground after compiling 28 points following its 18-2 victory over Shadow Bowlers on total pinfalls of 1,938 and 1,881 and rank points of 10 and 6.

Al-Tayyer United Contractin­g rebounded from its last defeat to crush Arci-5 18-2 (1,934-1,556 9-1) and finish the day on 27 points with Nilobabes six points adrift on 21 thanks to its 16-4 triumph over SGH Bowling Group on total pinfalls of 1,8801,845 and rank points of 5-2).

Youngsters, next to last in the standings, had some reason to celebrate when they hacked out a 12-8 victory (1,8901,919 7-8) over Velocity Strikers with a ladies’ Bowler of the Week award to boot courtesy of Maria Mendoza.

Mendoza shot the high series of 547 in her division on lines of 171, 145 and 159.

RTJ Transient House ended the winning run of Expendabow­ls with a 12-8 victory in their match on total pinfalls of 1,866-1,879, rank points of 3-4 and total session points of 15-12.

Despite the defeat Expendabow­ls gained some consolatio­n after Danny Atubang put away the men’s Bowler of the Week award on 547.

Cesar Sacramed and Rico Bulalayao took charge at Toshi with rounds of 520505 that went with the 470 by Vivian Sacramed and 443 by team captain Ryan Liwagon. Over at Al-Tayyer it was Carmen Duma who led the way on 508 followed by Jojo Esperanzat­e 486, Alex Duma 481 and Jack Jarin 459.

Nilobabes had Susan Patayan at the top of the scoring on 526. Sharmaine Patayan added 475, the Patayan patriarch, Nap, came through with 413 while Lito Zamudo tallied 308 and skipper Babes Yushimine mae 158.

Besides Mendoza, the other scorers at Youngsters were Carol Rio 511, Demet Velasquez 428 and Marlon Peralta 411.

RTJ built its total behind the efforts of Ed Cordova 542, Benj Espinosa 531 and Conrad Baltazar 493.
