Toshi leads top three seeds, Velocity shines in OFBC Friday League

JEDDAH: No. 1 Toshi led Nilobabes and RTJ Baguio Transient House into the next round as the top three seeds and outright finalists with Velocity Strikers claiming the last Team of the Week award to go up for grabs at the end of eliminatio­ns during the 18th session in the the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.

Toshi zeroed Al-Tayyer United Contractin­g 20-0 on total pinfalls on 1,983 and 1,815 and rank points of 6 and 3 to finish the session on 26 points in a tie with RTJ, while Velocity owned the top tally of 27 points after drubbing the league’s winningest team, The Expendabow­ls, 20-0 (1,995-1,775 7-2).

RTJ shared the stage with Velocity when it swept the individual awards courtesy of Conrad Baltazar and Malou Nidoy while handing Nilobabes a 16-4 beating in their match on total pinfalls of 2,090-2,018 and rank points of 10-9.

Elsewhere, SGH Bowling Group hammered out a surprising 12-8 victory over Arci- 5 ( 1,843- 1,688 4- 1) while Youngsters and Shadow Bowlers drew 10- 10 ( 2,006- 1,957 8- 5).

The Sacrameds, Cesar and Vivian, carded 522 and 520 respective­ly to go with the leading score of 525 by Rico Bulalayao at Toshi while team captain Ryan Liwagon added 416.

Men’s Bowler of the Week Baltazar shot 596 and the ladies’ Bowler of the Week Nidoy compiled 558 at the helm of RTJ, which also drew 487 from Benj Espinosa and 449 from Ed Cordova.

In getting the better of five-time Team of the Week Expendabow­ls Velocity enjoyed solid outings from Gizelle Virtudazo 525 and Jaime Flores 508. The husband-and-wife team of Toto and Vangie Lim contribute­d 490 and 472.

Over at SGH the scorers were Shahid Salvador 487, Princess Alicarte 465, Jay Arcenas 462 and Usop Abinal 429.

Youngsters built their total behind Bonnie Maelom 581, Carol Rio 486, Maria Mendoza 479 and Demet Velasquez 460.

Leading the Shadow Bowlers was the duo of Hadi Pacheco 546 and Jhun Ejanda 516 with support from Edwin Agustin 480 and Hercie Bosito 435. Team standings after Week 18: 1. Toshi 398.5 points 2.
