Prince Sultan honors Roadside Mosques Caring Foundation donors
RIYADH: Prince Sultan bin Salman recognized supporters of the Roadside Mosques Caring Foundation by honoring them at a function in Riyadh.
Prince Sultan is president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) and the honorary chairman of the foundation, which concerns itself with maintenance and upkeep of mosques at roadside stations across the Kingdom.
“Prince Sultan honored strategic partners and supporters of the foundation in a ceremony here at Al-Khozama Hotel,” the SCTH media department said Thursday.
On this occasion Brig. Turki bin Majed Al-Rowaibi, chairman of the foundation, presented a commemorative plaque to Prince Sultan. SCTH is considered as one of the key partners of the foundation in the efforts of caring of roadside mosques.
Prince Sultan pays great attention to this project as a religious, as well as a national duty, that should be implemented in the proper ways in the land, which is the cradle of Islam.
Earlier, both the SCTH and the foundation reached an agreement for a media campaign with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs to highlight the importance of caring for and maintaining mosques, as this is a noble mission exceeding the importance of ministries, organizations and associations.
The foundation is licensed with the Ministry for Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, and its aim is to build a specialized system to take care of roadside mosques across the Kingdom, including their facilities, supplies and services.
The collective effort behind improving the upkeep of roadside mosques is well appreciated. Abdullah Ahmed, an IT professional in Riyadh, commended the efforts, saying: “As in case with the mosques in the cities, the roadside places of worship should also be well maintained.” It is good on part of the authorities to honor those supporting such a good cause, he added.
