Philips Lighting appoints new president for Mideast and Turkey

Philips Lighting has announced the appointmen­t of Goktug Gur as president for the Middle East and Turkey region.

Currently managing director for Turkey and Middle East (excluding Saudi Arabia), Gur takes on the new role, in addition to his current responsibi­lities. He succeeds Paolo Cervini who is moving to pursue further interests outside the company.

Murali Sivaraman, president growth markets at Philips Lighting, said: “Goktug Gur has a proven record of delivering projects and successful­ly leading our business across a number of markets. Gur, who brings more than two decades of leadership in the region, will drive Philips Lighting Middle East and Turkey into a new era of LED adaptation, digitally connected lighting for the Internet of Things and sustainabl­e innovation. We congratula­te him on his new assignment. I would also like to thank Paolo Cervini for his valuable contributi­on throughout his career at Philips Lighting, building and maintainin­g a successful business in the region.”

There is an enormous opportunit­y that lies ahead for Philips Lighting and I look forward to working closely with our regional team to lead this next chapter of lighting for brighter lives and a better world while focusing on growth and delivering the best results for our customers.”

Gur moved to Dubai as managing director for Turkey and Middle East (excluding Saudi Arabia) in March after four years in the role of CEO for Philips Lighting Turkey. He brings vast knowledge of the project business and regional experience having spent over 20 years in leadership positions across the region. Gur graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Electrical Engineerin­g in Turkey before obtaining MBA degree at the Marmara University, Turkey and the University of Maine, USA. Over his 23-year career, he has delivered several marketing and solution-oriented projects in the energy sector, working across the Mediterran­ean, Central Asia and Middle East regions including Turkey.
