Jeddah Warriors, Wasalak win Titan Watch–JBL Basketball openers

JEDDAH: Jeddah Basketball League opened its second conference project for 2017 dubbed Titan Watch-JBL Basketball Tournament last Friday at the the Nazeeh and Wartah (AlBaik) Park court in Khalidia district here.

Participat­ing teams paraded in their resplenden­t uniforms during the opening ceremony over which JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat and JBL Tournament Director Donald Doloso presided. Ahmad Peradilla of Jeddah Dawah Center gave an inspiratio­nal Islamic invocation to open the tournament. Justine Durante led the oath of sportsmans­hip. The awards for the Best Team in Uniform went to Jeddah Engineers PICE and Sunbullah Meat, Most Discipline Team to White (Mosquito), Black and Yellow (Midget /Juniors Mix).

In the first game, Wasalak of Teddy Soriano beat Jeddah Engineers PICE 99-82. Wasalak played well offensivel­y in the whole game. Jeddah Engineers PICE tried to get back into the game but Wasalak’s defense took care of things in the final quarter. Elmer Brian top-scored with 23 points for Wasalak and was judged as the Titan Watch best player of the game while Bulaklak had 18 points for Jeddah Engineers PICE.

This tournament is principall­y sponsored by Titan Watch of Al Hussaini & Al Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Husssaini). The co-sponsors are Giordano Fashions (Ahmadullah) and KGT Kabayan Gents Tailoring.

Jeddah Warriors of Coach TJ Paste defeated Sunbullah Meat 93-84 in the second game Friday.

It was a tight ball game up to the last seconds. But costly errors by Sunbullah Meat in the dying seconds gave Jeddah Warriors their first win. Moriz Solar scored 20 points for Jeddah Warriors and was judged the Giordano best player of the game

In the Midget/Juniors Mix division, Black of Coach Nash Musni defeated Yellow 119105. Osama Brown had 33 points for Black and was named the JBL best player of the game while Densen Dolloso chipped in 65 points for Yellow.

In Saturday’s games, Green of Coach Carlo beat Blue 83-80 with Mohammad Acub on 28 points, White of Coach Ernel defeated Pink 85-83 thanks to Dos Yatco’s 31 points and Gray beat Red 91-72 with Bobby Mamaluba hitting 24 points.
