Youngsters enjoy double in OFBV Friday Afternoon League
JEDDAH: Youngsters bested the field during a low-scoring fifth week to claim a Team of the Week and ladies’ Bowler of the Week double in the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) Friday Afternoon League Season 7 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.
Youngsters managed to chalk up 16 points out of the possible 20 even though they only had one firstplace points of five which came in the overall output computation at 2,568 total pinfalls. The first two games saw them hitting four points each while getting three in the third game.
The previous week honoree and first team to record the first league grand slam, RTJ Baguio Transient House, was three points adrift of the Team of the Week award winner on 13 points with total pinfalls of 2,491.
Spareshots tallied 11.5 points and total pinfalls of 2,461. Lucky Ones compiled 10 points and 2,403 total pinfalls and Arci-5 9.5 and 2,460.
Rico Bulalayao of RTJ won his back-to-back men’s Bowler of the Week accolade, hitting the day’s high series of 557.
Carol Rio completed a Youngsters double when she carded her division’s high of 513 with Jeff Magallanes leading their team on 537. Bonnie Maelom, Dan Garret Mojares and team captain Toto Lim aded 521, 520 and 477 in that order.
Besides Bulalayao the scorers at RTJ were skipper Joel Nidoy 548, team manager Rudy Jamon 487, Jack Jarin 456 and Malou Nidoy 443.
Over at Spareshots Benj Espinosa and Alex Duma took charge on 522 and 513 while Jon Belo, Noli De Leon and Carmen Duma contributed 488, 487 and 451.
Veteran bowler Hadi Pacheco led the way at Lucky Ones on 552 followed by Shahid Salvador 501, Rose Agustin 494, Alan Ornedo 464 and Edwin Agustin 392.
The Arci-5 quintet that built the team’s total were: Sharmaine Patayan 508, Sergio Modar 495, Eli Arciaga 490, Nap Patayan 486 and Lita Arciaga 481.
Meanwhile, the 5th Year Anniversary Tournament of the OFBC will take place on Sept. 15 at the Iceland Bowling Center, according to Commissioner Nidoy.
