Iffu-Villanueva wins top flight crown in Shuttle Eagles Smashdown 2017
JEDDAH: The top badminton players from the different clubs in Jeddah gave it their best shots during the Feel the Heat Smashdown 2017 badminton tournament at the Jeddah International School (JIS) courts in Khalidiyah district here.
When the dust settled, the pair of Iffu Khan, an Indian national, and Mark Villanueva emerged winners in the men’s doubles F2/F3, the top flight in the two-day competition held during the Hajj holidays.
Organized by Shuttle Eagles Family, one of the more active badminton clubs in Jeddah, the tournament enjoyed the full support of sponsors Toya, Virgin Mobile, Al-Shatira Filipino Chinese Restaurant, EZY Shoppe and Fawri Money Transfer Service.
Jay Irasusta is at the helm of the club as chairman with Anthony Basilio tournament director, Rey Alemania technical director and Bert Valderas assistant technical director.
A big success, the event witnessed thrilling actions that in the end produced champions in 12 categories in the men’s, ladies and mixed doubles.
