Rohde & Schwarz offers best solutions for wireless communications and cybersecurity
Rohde & Schwarz, which has a substantial presence in the Middle East, ranks No.1 in terms of manufacturing of test and measurement equipment for mobile radios, radio communications and TV broadcasting.
According to a press statement, Rohde & Schwarz stands for quality, precision and innovation in all fields of wireless communications.
The German company is strategically based on four pillars. They include test and measurement, broadcasting, secure communications, radio monitoring and radiolocation. The electronics group, headquartered in Munich, Germany, has a global presence and is among the world market leaders in all of its business fields. The company provides communications and security solutions for critical infrastructures.
At a time when crises, violent incidents and cyberattacks regularly make the headlines, critical infrastructures need more protection than ever. Rohde & Schwarz covers these requirements with products and solutions from all its different business fields, for example, countering the rising drone threat and providing cybersecurity for digital air traffic management (ATM).
Referring to the air traffic control (ATC) communications, a press statement released by Rohde & Schwarz, said: “For air navigation service providers (ANSP), airport operators, and armed forces, absolute system availability is paramount in flight operations. Rohde & Schwarz is the only manufacturer to offer complete IP-based solutions — from the controller working position (CWP) to the antenna — that perfectly support the communications of the future in line with the EUROCAE ED-137 standard.”
The first cross border control center is operated by Ireland’s and Iceland’s air traffic control authorities and services the North Atlantic flight corridor using Rohde & Schwarz equipment. Recently the British ANSP, NATS, awarded Rohde & Schwarz the order to supply a fully voice over IP solution (VoIP) for its second voice system for the UK airspace.
Within the framework of the Single European Sky (SES) initiative, NATS will modernize its entire ATM infrastructure over the next few years. Hence, ATC communications will be converted from TDM-based systems to VoIP. These are in addition to the full-featured radio-communications between air traffic controllers and pilots.
The R&S VCS-4G has been designed especially for civil ATC and air defense (AD) deployments.
It enables full-featured radio communications between air traffic controllers and pilots, including specific radio remote control operations if required.
