STC delivers FTTH to 51,000 homes in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communicat­ion and Informatio­n Technology Abdullah Alswaha has appreciate­d the Saudi Telecom Company’s (STC) role in implementi­ng the ministry’s plan to deploy broadband all over the Kingdom after the company delivered fiber to the home (FTTH) to 51,000 homes in Riyadh.

In a press statement issued after a field visit to view FTTH in North Riyadh, accompanie­d by STC Group CEO Khaled Biyari, Alswaha said: “We thank the STC, our partners in the Broadband Initiative, which will cover 2 million homes across the Kingdom, in accordance with our National Transforma­tion Program (NTP) 2020 and in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030…”

Network VP Abdullah A. Alzmame briefed the minister about the progress of the project.

Alswaha and Abdullah Al-Kanhal, the undersecre­tary of the Ministry of Communicat­ion and Informatio­n Technology, also inspected the field works of the project and reviewed some of the excavation and extension works on a number of houses in Al-Yasmine neighborho­od in Riyadh.

The STC group CEO thanked the minister for his effective role in supporting and following up the project.

The STC has recently signed an agreement with the Ministry of Communicat­ion and Informatio­n Technology to implement the ministry’s plan to deploy high-speed broadband services across the Kingdom.
