-

Since invention, television has played a major role in influencing public opinion and shaping societies. It took control of the world, and soon became the most popular and influential means of communication, through various programs, drama series, talk shows, cultural programs, children’s programs and political programs. The diversity has contributed to shaping public opinion while reaching out to the target audience. Despite its strong presence and impact, very few people know that this remarkable invention is celebrated globally, and is recognized by the United Nations as World Television Day on Nov. 21 each year.

LG first began producing black and white television sets back in 1966 for domestic purpose. In 1979, it produced the world’s first digital color television, the first in the world to transfer computer and digital technology to television. In 1993, it produced its first CDG-based television and in 2001 produced its first 60-inch PDP (Plasma Display Panel). In 2010, LG produced the world’s first FULL LED 3D television. Three years later, in 2013, it produced the first curved television with the advanced OLED technology, placing itself at the forefront of television industry, offering the latest technology.

LG is the first company to market OLED screens.

“Our commitment of being the best in the world makes us the leading company in the global TV market. And since we are always looking forward to the future, we are making unprecedented progress in R&D and producing the best television screens of different sizes that meet the needs of consumers around the world and makes us the leader in high definition screens,” said Eddie Jun, managing director of LG Electronics Saudi Arabia.

LG’s smart TVs are equipped with a webOS platform, providing users with instant access to a wide range of content from live software to popular streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video. WebOS works in tandem with Magic Remote, which features fast access buttons to help users quickly identify their favorite content, as well as a magic link that simplifies search by aligning content on the screen. Other features include a Miracast overlay that displays both TV and mobile content on the screen at one time.
