Abu Dhabi’s first ‘Modest Fashion Weekend’ at Yas Mall
Yas Mall, the largest mall in Abu Dhabi and leading retailer hub for Yas Island, is launching the first ever “Modest Fashion Weekend” in the emirate from Dec. 7-9. The event will highlight its range of retailers, with everything from catwalks from Debenhams, H&M, Marks & Spencer and House of Fraser and many more, trendy styling workshops, and an exclusive fashion lounge with personal stylists and photo shoots.
This conservative fashion trend is taking the industry by storm. As the name suggests, modest-wear is clothing that covers but still brings an individual’s personality to life. Today, more and more global fashion houses, such as DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger and Zara, have brought longer hemlines and sleeves to their collections.
“Yas Mall’s strong fashion portfolio, with over 370 outlets, makes it the perfect creator of a modest fashion event, as the weekend will include new conservative collections of Yas Mall’s diverse range of retailers,” a press release said.
Yas Mall has partnered with ITP Publishing enabling fashion-forward editors from Grazia Middle East and Ahlan! Arabic to curate catwalk shows from Yas Mall fashion brands. The fashion shows will “celebrate the beauty of concealing clothing and inspire women to try new styles” from participating retailers.
Yas Mall has collaborated with Ahlan! Arabic to offer a professional photo studio, complete with a photographer. The event will feature the UAE’s first water-only bar, H20 Eau Lounge, stocked with a selection of complimentary water, in partnership with Women’s Health Middle East.
Shatha Al-Romaithy, marketing manager of Yas Mall, said: “Although modest fashion has always been a key trend for this region, we are experiencing more and more women dressing conservatively to be noticed for their unique sense of style. Therefore, we have created the Modest Fashion Weekend to champion concealing clothing that focuses purely on the personality of the individual.”
She added: “With the support of our incredible retailers, the Modest Fashion Weekend will have all the tools to inspire and empower women to dress with glamor and edge, through its amazing array of catwalk shows, styling events, and pop-up shops.”
