-

Two Saudi companies won the prestigious Primaduta Award conferred by the Indonesian government for promoting trade between the two nations.

Consul General of Indonesia Mohammed Hery Saripudin presented the awards on behalf of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, to Said Bawazir Trading Corporation (SBTC) and Abdul Latif Jameel in Jeddah.

Saripudin received the award from Widodo at the Trade Expo Indonesia on Oct. 11.

The awards were presented in Jeddah at the annual economic and trade gathering, held at the Nusantara Hall in the residence of the Indonesian consul general.

The event was attended by a number of businessmen, diplomats and members of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( JCCI).

Saripudin expressed appreciation for the companies’ efforts to provide the Saudi market with the “finest products from Indonesia.”

The Primaduta Award is one of the Indonesian government’s programs to increase the growth of Indonesian exports to global markets. It is bestowed upon buyers who have been loyal in buying Indonesian products on a frequent basis (as evidenced by import transactions over a period of five years) and as such contributing to an increase of exports, as well as developing the types of products purchased from Indonesia.

The awards are expected to act as a stimulus for boosting Indonesia’s exports to the Kingdom, building loyalty and a strong networking between buyers with Indonesian exporters, and motivating other traders to follow suit to start business transactions.

Abdul Latif Jameel won in the manufacturing category while Said Bawazir Trading Corporation won in the food and beverage category.

Industry newcomer Mizanain Marketing and Trading received the Duta Niaga award for introducing Santos Coffee, readymade coffee sachets, to the Saudi market.

Through various activities, the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah has been continuously striving to encourage Saudi businessmen to develop and enhance business relations with Indonesia.

During this year, non-oil export trade to Saudi Arabia has shown a positive growth of $1,079 billion, 5.58 percent higher compared to the same period last year which was worth $1,022 billion. Indonesian products represent 12.8 percent of the total Saudi market share.
