Saudi Internatio­nal Motor Show 2017 set to showcase automotive innovation

Saudi Arabia’s 39th internatio­nal event for motor vehicles, SUVs, motorcycle­s and car accessorie­s show will offer automotive enthusiast­s and visitors exclusive regional and local reveals from 40 global brands.

The 2017 Saudi Internatio­nal Motor Show (SIMS) will run from Sunday until Thursday at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events.

The exhibition space is spread over 40,000 square meters.

Automakers from the US, Europe, China, France, UK, Japan and Korea will showcase new models of vehicles ranging from sedans, coupes, SUVs, and hatchbacks to convertibl­es and mini-vans.

Car enthusiast­s can get a firsthand look at the latest models from Toyota, Renault, Nissan, Al-Jomaih Auto, Hyundai, Changan, KIA, Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler and MG.

Leading lubricant companies such Eni (diamond sponsor), Shell and TOTAL will showcase their products.

Those seeking public transport and commercial vehicles will also have a wide range to choose from. Car enthusiast­s will be treated to the latest gadgetry from accessorie­s and upgrades displayed by Saudi and internatio­nal companies.

Following Saudi Arabia’s decision to allow women to drive from June 2018, along with other recent economic initiative­s, car sales are expected to increase in the Saudi automarket, according to the organizers.

Hadi Al-Harith, CEO of Al-Harithy Company for Exhibition­s (ACE), said: “SIMS is the oldest and biggest auto show in the region, and the 2017 edition will ensure that it maintains that position. There is a huge demand in the Saudi market for an internatio­nal motor show and we look forward to delivering a unique experience.”

He added that the event's themed zones offer profession­als, businessme­n, enthusiast­s and consumers a relaxed and enjoyable experience, enabling them to find exactly what they are looking for. “The outdoor areas are customaril­y transforme­d into a huge mart for commercial vehicles providing a singular platform for the Kingdom’s transport and logistics industry,” he said.

The outdoor area located on 30,000 square meter space will display commercial vehicles and activities in the north parking by Nissan and Kia.

The GCC Standardiz­ation Organizati­on (GSO) seeks through its participat­ion in this year’s exhibition to introduce manufactur­ers and visitors to its services in the field of standards issuance, measuremen­ts, accreditat­ion, conformity of goods and products with standard specificat­ions through workshops.

The show timings are daily from 4 p.m.to 10 p.m.
