MIS annual sports meet ends in Emerald House victory
“Sportivo ‘17,” Mahd Al-Uloom International School’s ninth annual sports meet, took place in the Xtep Indoor Stadium at Ameer Fawaz, Jeddah.
Special guest Aijaz Ahmed Khan, president of Jeddah Cricket Association, was given a guard-of-honor reception by the school’s scout team. He praised the school for its tremendous efforts in supporting and improving the children’s talents in various fields.
“The distinguishing feature of Mahd Al-Uloom International School is its unprecedented interest in extracurricular activities,” Khan said in his inaugural speech.
The school principal, Dr. Firoz Mullah, welcomed dignitaries and guests, and operations manager Yahya Khaleel Noorani chaired the program.
Contingents from the school’s four houses — Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Topaz — marched to the accompaniment of a band, and a variety of mass drills followed to loud applause from the audience.
School sports captain Nawar recited an oath promising to adhere to the spirit of sportsmanship and students formed the shape of a large flower on the sports field.
School director Abdu Rabb congratulated staff and students for the team spirit and enthusiasm which he said had made the event a success. Rauf also presented a memento to Khan.
Students from all four houses participated enthusiastically in a variety of events, from track and field to football, volleyball, badminton, and even chess.
