English cycling broadcaste­r and former profession­al racing cyclist Paul Sherwen was one of the top-trending Google searches on Monday after news of his death emerged. Sherwen passed away on Dec. 2 at age 62.

Sherwan was an English profession­al racing cyclist and later a broadcaste­r on cycling, notably the Tour de France. He participat­ed in seven editions of the Tour.

According to NCB Sports, “Paul was synonymous with the Tour de France in the US and will be greatly missed by his legions of fans and the NBC Sports family, which was honored to be part of Paul’s 40th Tour last July.”

His profession­al career included many achievemen­ts. Sherwen, one of the most well-known voices in the sport, was involved in 40 Tours de France, including 33 as a commentato­r. He also covered cycling at five Olympics for NBC in 1996, 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016.

As a pro cyclist, Sherwen won British national titles in 1986 and 1987 and raced in prestigiou­s one-day classics Paris-Roubaix and Milan-San Remo. Austin Tice, a freelance American journalist and Marine veteran who was reporting on the war in Syria at the time, went missing in 2012.

The Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco continues today. 14 films are competing in the festival that runs until Dec. 8. The movies come from different countries around the world including Egypt, Tunisia and Japan among many others.
