‘Proud of my Arab roots’ Sonia Ben Ammar reveals

Tunisian model Sonia Ben Ammar — a rising star in the fashion world — took to Instagram this week to celebrate her Arab roots with a post about her latest magazine cover for Marie Claire Arabia.

Ammar shared a photograph of the magazine — she is Marie Claire’s September cover star — with the caption “proud of my Arab roots” and posted an earlier photograph captioned “I’m so d*** excited for you to see what we shot.”

The close-up shot of Ammar showed her perfectly winged eyeliner and blushed cheeks on the day of the photoshoot.

The 20-year-old Paris-born model spoke to the magazine about where she was born.

“Paris is one of the most beautiful sources of inspiratio­n for any emerging artist,” she said. “I feel fortunate to have grown up in this city, surrounded by historical monuments, art galleries and the finest museums.”

She also referenced her multicultu­ral background in the interview.

“Multicultu­ralism … (enables) me to absorb different cultural values, as well as practice many languages. My multicultu­ral background has given me an open and tolerant vision of the world and of all cultures. What refined my personalit­y, and shaped the values of my life and my concept of the world, is definitely my heritage. It opened up my horizons and taught me that inspiratio­n can come from anywhere.
