In a recent interview, actress Scarlett Johansson made statements regarding the director Woody

Allen, saying that she “loved” him and “believed” that he was falsely accused. Dylan Farrow, Woody Allen’s adopted daughter, accused him in 1992 of molesting her. The filmmaker denies the claims. However, many actors have distanced themselves from him. Stars like Greta Gerwig, Colin Firth and Mira Sorvino said that they regretted working him, while Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Hall said that they would donate their wages from working with him to charity. Avengers star Johansson, though, spoke in his favor, stirring up anger from fans. The actress said:

“I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it. He maintains his innocence and I believe him.”

In the interview, the actress said that it was hard to express her support of Allen in the post #MeToo era.

She garnered mixed responses on social network site Twitter. @ScottMandelson tweeted:

“Feel however you want about Scarlett Johansson stating that she believes and defends Woody Allen. But can we not treat these things like she made an unprompted declaration? She was asked a question in an interview and answered that question.”

@EstherK tweeted: “Just saw someone trying to convince Twitter that they could still love #ScarJo despite her statement in an interview that she “loves” #Woody Allen and would work with him anytime and I was like, “Oh, sweetie that’s not how Twitter works.” readings about the prehistoric origins of the site.
