Calling all mixologists: Saudi Arabia to host Monin Cup
Bidfood KSA and Georges Monin SAS France have announced that Saudi Arabia will host the Monin Cup 2019.
This is the first time that the Kingdom will host the national and international competition for professional beverage specialists, organized by Monin, a premium brand for gourmet flavored syrups, fruit mixes, sauces and frappes.
Mixologists and beverage specialists from across the Kingdom are invited to register online and secure a chance to be the Monin Champion in Saudi Arabia and win up to $2,000. The competition will be held under the theme “Mix your Origins.” Applicants must be 35 years old or younger and should have at least two years of professional work experience as a beverage mixologist, barista or a student at a culinary school. They must submit two recipes for a non-alcoholic beverage using Monin’s products — one hot and one cold drink.
Competitors will demonstrate their creative skills using Monin products to craft signature cocktails. Over 10,000 beverage specialists from all across the globe have participated in the international competition.
For the first time, Saudi Arabia will host a national edition, which will take place over the course of two months. All submissions will be evaluated to select the top 10 semifinalists for each geographic region — Riyadh, Jeddah and Alkhobar. The 10 selected semifinalists will compete in local semifinals held in Bidfood culinary studios in each region. The three regional champions will then compete for the Monin Cup finals, which will be held on Dec. 5 in Riyadh. Hamza El-Shaer, marketing manager, Bidfood KSA, said: “Saudi Monin Cup provides an opportunity to beverage specialists to live out the passion they have for their profession and demonstrate their competencies and skills to the fast-growing food and beverage industry in Saudi Arabia.”
The deadline for submitting entries is Sept. 31.
