“Desperate Housewives” actress Felicity Huffman is the first of more than 30 people to be sentenced over a college admission scam, with the disgraced TV star accused of paying $15,000 to the scam’s mastermind to boost her daughter’s SAT scores.

She will carry out 250 hours of community service, pay a $30,000 fine, and serve one year’s probation. She will also spend 14 days in prison. Her sentence was handed down in Boston’s federal court on Friday.

Her lawyers had asked for no jail time, one year of probation, a $20,000 fine and 250 hours of community service. Huffman apologized to the judge in the presence of her husband and daughter. She said she regretted her decision, that she had a choice and could have said no. Judge Indira Talwani said

Huffman knew what she was doing was wrong. “She knew it was a fraud, it was not an impulsive act,” the judge said. “Trying to be a good mother doesn’t excuse this.”

@bknboi tweeted: “Maybe Felicity Huffman should have paid for extra lessons for her daughter instead of bribing a University.”

@RIPMLiberal said: “Now #FelicityHuffman wants to choose the prison she goes to. Honey, true remorse means you accept whatever they give and you don’t ask for special consideration. You are not remorseful, you are sorry you got caught.” @stonecold2050 mentioned a similar case saying: “Tanya McDowell lied about the school district she lived in so her child could go to a better school. She was homeless. Sentenced to 5 years in jail. Felicity Huffman sentenced to 14 days in prison in admissions scandal.” through designers originating from the region, including Emirati designer Ahmed Khyeli.
