Rememberin­g the ‘King of Blues’

The late “King of Blues” B. B. King is being celebrated worldwide, and by Google, on Sept. 15, his birthday. An animated Google “doodle” took over the search engine on Monday to celebrate what would have been King’s 94th birthday. He passed away on May 14, 2015.

The accompanyi­ng video features his hit song “The Thrill is Gone,” which earned him a Grammy Award in 1970, and plays through various turns of his life in a colorful manner. King was a great icon for blues music — a singersong­writer, guitarist and record producer. His career launched when his hit a cinema-orchestra mashup the award-winning film “Gladiator” by filmmaker Ridley Scott. The Armenian State Orchestra performs Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard’s iconic film score with live vocal soloists and chorus.

High-profile designers, models, influencer­s, and other fashion enthusiast­s are in the UK for the London Fashion Week, which “Three O’Clock Blues” reached No. 1 spot on Billboard magazine’s Rhythm and Blues charts.

In 1987, King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He also collaborat­ed with big names like Eric Clapton and U2.

The American singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer introduced a unique style of soloing based on fluid string bending and shimmering vibrato.

He also made guest appearance­s in numerous TV shows including The

Cosby Show, The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Sesame Street, etc. He also appeared in several television commercial­s. ends today.
