World urged to check Iran’s ‘aggressive’ policies

KSA vows to support efforts to protect maritime navigation

Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet on Tuesday called on the internatio­nal community to put an end to what it described as “aggressive and subversive Iranian policies,” the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The Cabinet pointed out that the attack on Saudi Aramco oil facilities in Abqaiq and Khurais, and the use of Iranian weapons in them, threatened internatio­nal peace and security, and was an unjustifie­d assault on global energy supplies.

Chaired by King Salman at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah, the Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom’s decision to join the internatio­nal coalition for the safety and protection of maritime navigation, to support regional and internatio­nal efforts to deter and counter threats

Speaking to the Saudi Press Agency, Media Minister Turki AlShabanah said that the king expressed his thanks and appreciati­on to Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Issa Al-Khalifah, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan for their condemnati­on of the criminal acts that targeted the two Aramco facilities. The Cabinet authorized the Interior Ministry to discuss with the Indonesian government a draft extraditio­n agreement between the two countries. The Cabinet also authorized the ministry to discuss with China a draft cooperatio­n agreement to combat drug traffickin­g and the smuggling trade. It also authorized a memorandum of understand­ing between the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), the Financial Services Commission and the Financial Supervisor­y Service of South Korea for cooperatio­n in the supervisio­n of financial institutio­ns. The Cabinet also decided that the government would bear, for five years, the financial remunerati­on for expatriate workers on licensed industrial establishm­ents.
