#WorldFoodDay

-

This year’s World Food

Day is about making #ZeroHunger and healthy eating a way of life.

World Food Day is celebrated on Oct. 16 — the anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the UN. The FAO wants to shift food trends toward healthier diets, as well trying to address world hunger and making sure that people get the nourishment they need by inspiring them to eat better. World Food Day in 2019 is calling for action to make healthy and sustainable diets affordable and accessible to everyone. People shared their thoughts on social media. @Chirag67603418 tweeted: “On this #WorldFoodDay lets together pledge to #FightFoodWaste. @FeedingIndia is setting up 500+ free happy fridges to solve the problem of excess food in every locality. Spread the word and request people to join the movement.”

@YGK047 said: “Primary and high school education could include modules on farming, from growing to marketing crops. This could help young people see agriculture as a potential career, which can assist in fighting the hunger crisis in Africa.” @ThisInShape tweeted: “Let us come together and promise ourselves to #eradicate this evil by feeding the hungry. Warm wishes to you on WorldFoodDay.”

@WFP posed questions for people, asking them to reflect: “Think about what you ate today? Where did your food come from? This #WorldFoodDay, we challenge you to think about the #FoodJourney that brings food to your plate day after day and do your part to #StopTheWaste.”

@EU_Commissions tweeted about the importance of nutrients: “It is #WorldFoodDay our nutrition provides life to every cell in our body, from hair to skin, from bones to muscles. We are what we eat, but also what we waste. Europeans waste 88 million tons of food each year.”
