Madinah-based calligraph­y center named after Saudi crown prince

The Saudi government announced on Monday night plans to develop the Madinahbas­ed Dar Al-Qalam Center, which will be renamed the “Prince Mohammad bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraph­y.”

According to a royal decree, the Ministry of Culture will oversee the operations of the center in coordinati­on with the King Abdul Aziz Foundation for Research and Archives, and will work to develop it into a global platform for calligraph­ers from countries all over the world.

The decision to rename the center was made at the request of Culture Minister Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan in appreciati­on of the crown prince’s efforts to support Arabic calligraph­y and preserve the local culture.
