Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Al-Furaih
Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Al-Furaih is chairman of the steering committee at the Saudi Ministry of Finance. He is also a member of the audit, risk, and compliance committee of the board of the Public Investment Fund.
Al-Furaih obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from San Diego State University, California in 1981. Two years later, he earned an accounting sciences master’s degree from the Indianabased Ball State University.
In 1987, he was granted the American Certified Public Accountants Fellowship from the US state of Colorado.
Al-Furaih has been a member of the Accounting Standards Committee and the Performance Quality Control Committee in the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants.
Al-Furaih’s vast experience in banking paved the way for him to become the deputy CEO of the Riyad Bank, before a royal decree, issued in July 2014, appointed him as the vice governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).
A few months later, another royal order tasked Al-Furaih with representing SAMA at the board of directors of the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).
Last week, Al-Furaih presided over a virtual meeting on remote working with a number of officials from both the private and government sectors.
In the meeting, Al-Furaih said that digital transformation initiatives, adopted by government agencies, had contributed to many positive accomplishments amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
