Food safety in­spec­tions stepped up in Qatif

Hun­dreds of in­spec­tion tours were car­ried out last month in Qatif to en­sure the im­ple­men­ta­tion of health and mu­nic­i­pal reg­u­la­tions and re­quire­ments as well as the im­ple­men­ta­tion of pre­ven­tive pro­to­cols and mea­sures.

The Eastern Prov­ince mu­nic­i­pal­ity, rep­re­sented by the mu­nic­i­pal­ity of Qatif gover­norate, car­ried out 690 in­spec­tion tours of com­mer­cial and food es­tab­lish­ments aimed at en­sur­ing the safety of traded food­stuffs as well as en­sur­ing that pre­cau­tion­ary and safety mea­sures were be­ing fol­lowed.

In­spec­tion tours cov­ered 2,751 es­tab­lish­ments and re­sulted in the clo­sure of 93 stores, the is­sue of 605 warn­ings and 11 tick­ets, in ad­di­tion to the levy­ing of fi­nan­cial penal­ties on stores that did not com­ply with the health mea­sures.

Qatif mayor, Mo­hammed bin Ab­dul­mohsen Al-Hus­seini said that the mu­nic­i­pal­ity had in­ten­si­fied its mon­i­tor­ing ac­tiv­ity to en­sure the preser­va­tion of en­vi­ron­men­tal san­i­ta­tion and the re­moval of ev­ery­thing that may pose a threat to pub­lic health.
