Kingdom stresses children rights at UN session
The head of the human rights section of the Kingdom’s permanent delegation to the
UN, Meshaal Al-Balawi, called on countries to assume their clear human rights obligations of preventing environmental degradation and its impact on the effective enjoyment of all human rights, including children’s rights
Al-Balawi delivered his country’s speech during the
44th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.
He affirmed that regulations in the Kingdom protect children from various forms of abuse, neglect, discrimination and exploitation, provide a safe and healthy environment for them to develop their skills and abilities, and protect them psychologically and physically.
“The child protection system in the Kingdom ensures the health of the child, by offering them the appropriate healthy environment,” said Al-Balawi. “The government protects children from any work that may pose a threat to their health or development,” he added. Al-Balawi pointed out that the government had adopted an initiative to protect children in cyberspace focused on the development of best practices, policies and programs to protect them.
