‘America’s Got Talent’
A poet and spokenword performer was the unconventional winner of the 15th season of “America’s Got Talent,” bagging a prize of $1 million. Brandon Leake earned a golden buzzer in his auditions when he read a heartwarming piece about his sister who died at a young age, bringing the audience as well as the judges to tears. He said that he always performed what he wrote himself. In other touching works on the show, he talked about his missing father, his hard-working mother, and US shooting victims Ahmaud Arbery,
George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Jacob Blake.
His winning poem was a prayer to his daughter telling her that when she grew up, he would do everything in his power to make her life better. @howiemandel said: “Brandon Leake is an absolute inspiration.” @PattiMichels2 said: “My favorite talent on AGT won. I love Brandon Leake. What a gift he has … what a gift to us.” @MegLunchWriter said: “Huge congrats to the fellow poet for winning AGT. Putting poetry on the map like never before, with beautiful and powerful words and a message that matters.”
