Tom Parker

- Nada Jan

British singer Tom Parker has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. Parker, a member of

The Wanted, shared the news with a magazine, saying that he had a constant feeling that something was not right with him.

He said he had an unexplained seizure in July and went to the hospital but, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, they had him on the MRI waiting list and sent him home.

Six weeks ago he had another, more serious seizure while he was on a staycation with his family and

Parker went to hospital again.

Doctors said that Parker had a grade-four glioblastoma brain tumor, that it was inoperable and it was the worst-case scenario. Parker said he was still processing the situation, but that he would remain positive. “I need everyone’s love and positivity,” he told the magazine. “I am going to fight this. We are already exploring alternative treatments and looking at clinical trials both here and abroad, and our friends have been doing research.”

Wife Kelsey Hardwick said they did not ask about his life expectancy as it would negatively affect his mental state. “We didn’t ask for one. I said that for Tom’s state of mind, and who he is as a person, that would not be good for him. He would literally sit here and count down the days and not live his life.”

The couple added that they now knew a group of people with similar cases who had lived longer than doctors expected them to.

“There is a guy called Ben who was diagnosed 25 years ago, and he’s still with us. You just have to be really positive,” Hardwick said.

Parker and Hardwick married in 2018. They have a 16-month-old daughter Aurelia and, earlier this year, they announced they were expecting their second child.
