FREE SCHOOL MEALS CAMPAIGN U-turn

The word “U-turn” was trending worldwide on Sunday on Twitter after the UK government changed its stance on football player Marcus Rashford’s campaign to provide free school meals to needy children during the Christmas holidays.

After Tory MPs previously voted down a Labour bid to extend support to struggling parents through the October half-term, cafe and restaurant owners, and councils all stepped up to provide meals to disadvanta­ged children during the holiday.

The 23-year-old Manchester United star said on Sunday that Prime Minister Boris Johnson called him the previous day to tell him that £170 million ($224 million) was being set aside to help support upport his campaign. Rashford shford is being hailed as a “hero” ero” for forcing another government nment U-turn.
