Egypt slams Israeli demolition of Palestinia­n homes

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry has condemned Israel’s demolition of over 70 homes and buildings in the Palestinia­n village of Humsa Al-Baqai’a in the occupied West Bank, which displaced about 80 people, including children.

“This act is a clear violation of internatio­nal legitimacy and the decisions of internatio­nal humanitari­an law,” the ministry said in a statement.

The UN Office for the Coordinati­on of Humanitari­an Affairs (OCHA) said: “Three quarters of the community’s population lost their shelters, making this the largest forced displaceme­nt incident in over four years.”
