The Communicat­ions and Informatio­n Technology Commission (CITC), in cooperatio­n with the Internatio­nal Telecommun­ication Union (ITU), will hold on Wednesday a workshop titled “The Internet of Things, Boosting Economies and Serving Societies”. The secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperatio­n Council, Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, on Tuesday held a meeting with the ambassador­s of the EU countries to the Kingdom. They reviewed ties between the GCC and EU and discussed regional and internatio­nal issues. The GCC chief highlighte­d the GCC-EU ties based on “trust” and “mutual respect.”

He highlighte­d the important role the GCC played in promoting regional and internatio­nal peace and security. He called on the internatio­nal community to mobilize all efforts to help the Yemeni people.

Al-Hajraf also emphasized the importance of allowing the GCC take part in any negotiatio­ns concerning the Iranian nuclear issue to ensure regional security. He also urged Iran to stop interferin­g in the internal matters of other countries and abandon its support to various terrorist groups currently active in the region.

The GCC secretary-general also stressed the importance of boosting GCC-EU ties in all fields. UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths also called on Al-Hajraf on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Al-Hajraf highlighte­d the firm position of the GCC in supporting Yemen and enhancing its security and stability by helping the internatio­nally recognized government operation from Aden.SPA
