UN official concerned over Houthi attacks against KSA
Stephane Dujarric, UN spokesperson, has expressed his deep concern over the recent reports of increased cross-border attacks by Iran-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia.
His statement follows interception by the Arab coalition of two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthi militia toward Jazan in the south of the Kingdom on Thursday. Meanwhile, two soldiers were killed and eight were wounded when an explosion ripped through a convoy of local military leaders in Yemen’s port city of Aden on Thursday, a local security official told Arab News.

The Arab coalition intercepted two ballistic missiles fired by the Houthi militia toward Jazan in the south of the Kingdom on Thursday.
Mohsen Al-Wali, commanders of separatist military units in the Aden district of Madinat Asha’ab. Al-Mashushi appeared in a video after the explosion, saying he and his friend Al-Wali were unhurt and vowing to punish those who plotted the attack.
Nobody claimed responsibility for Thursday’s convoy attack, but local officials pointed fingers at the Houthis, who staged a missile strike on Aden airport last year. Separately, senior US officials have held a first direct meeting with officials from the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, two sources familiar with the matter said, as the new US administration pushes to end a six-year war.
The discussions, which have not been officially made public by either side, took place in Muscat on Feb. 26 between US Yemen envoy Timothy Lenderking and the Houthis’ chief negotiator Mohammed Abdusalam, Reuters reported.
