Sabrina Carpenter

Swifties in Sydney got a special surprise when Singer Sabrina Carpenter joined Taylor Swift for a mash-up and a duet on Friday night.

The 24-year-old singer was set to be Swift’s opening on the first day of her concerts at Accor Stadium in Sydney, but her act was canceled due to weatherrelated issues.

Little did Carpenter know she would end up singing with Swift on stage that night, delivering a soulful performance, singing a mashup of “White Horse” and “Coney Island.”

After announcing the alternative cover for her upcoming album “The Tortured Poets Department,” Swift introduced Carpenter to the stage.

“My incredibly talented, wonderful, gorgeous, hilarious, genius opening act Sabrina Carpenter,” she said. “She heroically sacrificed her show, which I think is a crime against Sydney. And I think it needs to be fixed, so I’m going to bring her out now, is that OK, Sydney?“Carpenter took to Instagram to describe sharing the stage with the pop legend, posting a video of the two singing next to each other, along with pictures of the performance.

The “Bad for Business” singer also posted a screenshot of a tweet she posted in 2009, saying that she “was trying to enter a

Taylor Swift karaoke contest to win tickets and a chance to meet her, but they said I had to be 13.”

Carpenter mentioned the incident in the caption, writing: “Nine-year-old Sabrina singing “White Horse” would never see this coming. I love you so dearly, Taylor. Always have, always will.”

She added: “Thank you, Sydney, for making me feel so welcome!”

Friends and fans of Carpenter showered her comment section with messages, including fellow former Disney star Jordan Fisher, who wrote: “Wow. I’m crying on the train.”

Among the comments, her boyfriend, “Eternals” star Barry Keoghan, dropped a woman wearing a crown emoji, hinting that he thinks she is a queen.

Swift kicked her Australian “Eras Tour” dates earlier this month, with Carpenter returning as the opening act. The “Tornado Warnings” singer previously took the stage during Swift’s tour stops in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
