Dutch Moroccan Egyptian model Imaan Hammam urged her followers to hold Palestine close to their hearts during Ramadan, just days after she starred in a music video alongside Sudanese Canadian poet Mustafa Ahmed for a song titled “Imaan.”

The catwalk star, who is no stranger to international fashion weeks, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message.

Alongside a graphic extending Ramadan greetings to her 1.7 million followers, she wrote: “Please keep Palestine in your hearts as we enter this month of reflection, compassion, forgiveness, worship and charity.” Highlighting the work of US nonprofit organization Baitulmaal, she encouraged her followers to contribute and support their efforts and also emphasized the importance of aiding Palestinian-owned businesses throughout Ramadan. Hammam recently featured in a music video alongside Sudanese Canadian poet Mustafa Ahmed, formerly known as Mustafa the Poet, for his song titled “Imaan.” Following the song’s release, Ahmed took to Instagram to express how the model influenced the song’s creation.

“A love song this wide could only come through you. Thank you for bringing this visual to light with your own fabrics, struggle, hope, distance, and closeness with faith. Every contradiction, sin, and repentance leads us to our truth,” he wrote. Meanwhile, Hammam expressed her “profound” appreciation for the song, stating that it was a project she “deeply cherished.”

She added: “‘Imaan,’ not just a song, but a journey of faith, culture, and connection.”

Last month, Hammam was in Milan for the city’s fashion week. She walked the Versace runway alongside part-Arab models Gigi Hadid and Loli Bahia.

She donned a printed blazer layered over a brown top, completing her ensemble with black tights and thigh-high leather boots. Just like Hadid, she showed off latex gloves and striking eye makeup. Hammam also starred in a recent campaign by US designer Donna Karan.

The label’s spring 2024 collection is titled “In Women We Trust” and the promotional campaign sees eight modeling icons unite “to redefine a legacy of luxury and usher in a new era of what it means to live in a woman’s world,” according to the brand.
