Saudi charity campaign collects over SR1bn on first day
King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman donate SR70m
King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman led donations as the fourth National Campaign for Charitable Work collected more than SR1 billion ($266 million) on its launch day, organizers announced on Saturday. The king gave SR40 million, and the crown prince gave SR30 million. The campaign was launched on Friday and will remain open for donations through the Ehsan platform throughout Ramadan, a month during which Muslims are encouraged to carry out charitable acts.
Among the other major contributors were Saudi Aramco (SR35 million), ROSHN (SR30 million), the King Abdullah Foundation (SR20 million), the Al-Rajhi Endowment (SR15 million), SNB
Al-Ahli (SR15 million), SABIC (SR10 million), the Saleh Abdullah Kamel Humanitarian Foundation (SR10 million), the Othaim Charity (SR8.6 million), the Hayat Charitable
Foundation (SR6.3 million), and Ma’aden (SR5 million).
Majid Al-Qasabi, the chairman of Ehsan’s supervisory committee, thanked the king and crown prince for their generous contributions and said all donations Ehsan receives are an essential source of funding and play an important part in the success of the Kingdom’s charitable initiatives.
Donors can contribute to various charitable and development causes throughout the campaign. Additionally, donations can be made toward the Ehsan Endowment Fund. All transactions occur securely through the Ehsan app, ehsan.sa website, or by calling 8001247000. Established by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority under a royal decree, the Ehsan platform is overseen by a supervisory committee consisting of representatives from 13 government agencies.
