Madinah governor launches $1.3m initiative to empower orphans

Madinah Gov. Prince Salman bin Sultan launched an initiative to educate orphans in the region at a cost of SR5 million ($1.3 million). The “Kulluna Ahel” (We are all family) initiative, organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Developmen­t, includes 14 developmen­t initiative­s, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The announceme­nt was made at an iftar held with several orphans. Among those present were Abdullah Al-Saadi, director general of the ministry’s branch in the region, as well as other officials, supporters, and associatio­ns concerned with orphan affairs.

The initiative aims to provide a nurturing environmen­t for orphans, helping them develop their abilities and cognitive skills, enabling them to integrate into society and enhance the quality of life for the beneficiar­ies.

As part of the initiative, Prince Salman also handed over a number of homes to the orphans. He also praised the ministry for its work

that forms a part of the Saudi Vision 2030 national transforma­tion programs.

At the initiative’s ceremony, activities launch were organized to showcase the talents of orphans benefiting from the initiative.

In a speech, one of the orphans thanked Prince Salman and the government for supporting vulnerable families in the Kingdom. He said this initiative was in line with Islam’s teachings.

The attendees then watched a video on the ministry’s initiative­s to benefit orphans.

At the end of the meeting, the Madinah governor honored the orphans who participat­ed in and supported the initiative.
