The White Lotus Paste and Charcoal Black Sesame Paste with Pine Nuts Mooncake ($68.80 for four) is one. Combining white lotus and black sesame paste, the baked treat is further elevated with added texture from the crushed pine nuts. Janice Wong Singapore’s luxurious snowskin mooncakes are a favourite with the sweet-toothed. The mooncakes ($58 for box of nine)are wrapped in house-made snow skin, sealed in chocolate, then hand-painted. Si Chuan Dou Hua’s gorgeous new mooncake packaging takes center stage this year. The pretty box ($108/box with four mooncakes) comes with sunshine yellow, turquoise blue and light pink covers, and features lovely pink peony flower prints and gold rimmed ribbons secured by a Chinese coin. Fan of American whiskey? Regent Singapore’s newly launched creations will pique your palate. Redolent with the fragrance of rye whiskey, the Barrel-aged Sazerac 6-year-old Rye with Coffee and Chocolate Snow Skin Mooncake ($73 for eight) houses a coffee and chocolate paste that is enhanced with the nutty notes from the whiskey. The snow skin is also not too thick — just substantia­l enough to hold the paste together well.
