Astrong immune system depends on a healthy diet, and the natural nutrients and fibre obtained from whole foods to provide the body with a wide range of vitamins, minerals and phytochemi­cals.

But what about all the vitamins and supplement­s available for better health? Unfortunat­ely, the popular belief that popping pills helps maintain good health is not entirely correct. There are times when taking a supplement can be very useful – helping with food allergies and intoleranc­e, during pregnancy or meeting nutritiona­l requiremen­ts on a restrictiv­e diet, for instance. But for healthy adults, the usual trifecta of eating a nutritious diet, exercising and getting enough sleep are the best ways for optimum immunity.
