CESARI JÈMA CORVINA 2015
Think Cesari and one of their superb Amarones from Valpolicella Classico estates come to mind. Yet you shouldn’t overlook one of the component grapes in Amarone, the versatile Corvina which gets its own 100% billing here. Named for the Italian word gemma, meaning both vine bud and precious gem, this bottling is aptly made only in good vintages from partial air-dried fruit. The result is bold and balanced, bringing layers of black cherry, toasted mocha and rounded tannins in each concentrated sip. Pair with robust black ink pasta or roasts. $66 from Cellarmaster, cmwines.com.sg
