The most influential bar trade fair, Bar Convent Berlin (BCB) goes online this year as BCB Pouring Digital. Trade visitors will find virtual product presentations, lectures and seminars, alongside digital networking opportunities, and the best part – all content will be free with a valid online registration. Look out for speakers such as Tiffanie Barriere (bartender and historian), Anistatia Miller and Jared Brown (Mixellany founders), Peter Lebese (beverage and cocktail developer, SIP Exclusive), Kiowa Bryan (Spiribam brand manager), Terry Sowah (global winner of Remy Martin Bartender Talent Academy), Reinhard Pohorec (hospitality consultant) and more, speaking on a variety of topics such as the Covid-19 crisis on hospitality, social justice issues, and esoteric bar crafts.
Another programme, 7 Bars in 7 Days will present bars from around the world, include Katana Kitten (New York), Kwant (London), Velvet (Berlin) and our very own Jigger & Pony – who’ll be doing an in-depth walkthrough of their space to show viewers around the world what it looks like inside Asia’s Best Bar 2020.
Pouring Digital takes place 12 to 18 October, and will be bundled alongside Global Bar Week

Explore a different side of Tennessee whiskeys through the which launched together with the Brown-forman Lazmall flagship store. The range comprises Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold ($140, 700ml), the only double-barrelled, double-mellowed Tennessee whiskey in the world, with a gratifyingly luxurious texture; and the Single Barrel Collection. Single Barrel Select ($112, 750ml) is hand-selected from the top of the barrel house, and has more spiced caramel notes, while the Single Barrel Rye ($112, 750ml) brings fruitiness to the rich rye notes. The Single Barrel 100 Proof ($117, 750ml) was previously released for the travel retail market, and is a balance of very intense vanilla and oak notes. Not in the range but newly landed in Singapore is Tennessee Rye Whiskey ($79, 700ml), a rare new recipe for the brand in 150 years, featuring a 70% rye grain bill and their signature charcoal mellowing process. www.lazada.sg/shop/brown-forman
With the success of the 12 Year Old Double Cask launched in 2016, the next natural step is here. The Double Cask Macallan 15 Year Old and 18 Year Old are two new permanent additions, with the hallmark casks referring to sherry seasoned American oak and signature European oak.
The 12 Year Old ($142) is a modern Scotch, balancing the best of oak spices and citrus, with a creamy, honeyed finish. The 15 Year Old ($192) digs deeper into wood spices, rounding off with gingery and caramel notes. The 18 Year Old will be released as an annual bottling, and this 2020 release ($459) pulls no punches, deftly building layer upon layer of orange peel, raisin and vanilla with ample warm baking spices incorporated into the creamy palate. www.themacallan. com/en-sg/double-cask
