This month, Wild Rice brings Tony Award-winning musical comedy classic La Cage Aux Folles to the Victoria Theatre stage. Featuring the classic musical number “I Am What I Am”, the heartwarming story follows Albin – a family man by day, and Zaza, a glittering cabaret star by night – and his partner George, who run into a dilemma when their son brings home a girl with ultra-conservative parents. Raising themes of family, love and selfacceptance, the almost 35-year-old show (on which the 1996 hit film The Birdcage was based) is as relevant as ever, following one family’s struggle to stay together, stay fabulous and, above all else, stay true to themselves.
