GUILT-FREE Pasta

-

Those looking for a low-carb lifestyle will be happy to know that Miracle Noodle, founded by Los Angelesbased Dr Jonathan Carp, is now available in Singapore. These shirataki noodles are made from the konjac yam; they taste and look like pasta, but have zero net carbohydrates and just 10 calories per serving, and they’re vegan, gluten-free, non-gmo and paleo-friendly, too. Versatile and ready-to-eat, the plain noodles can be used to create your own pasta dishes, or you can enjoy prepared flavours such as green curry, spaghetti Bolognese, spaghetti marinara, pad Thai and tom yum. There’s also “Love My Rice,” which is a blend of konjac flour and long-grain white rice that has onethird the calories of normal white rice. Starting from $4.20 per pack (with bulk offers available for packs of six, 12 and 18), Miracle Noodle is now available at the thecleverconsumer.com, Redmart and Four Seasons Organic Market at Parkway Parade and Great World City. thecleverconsumer.com

Boat Ride ’n Barbecue

Looking for a fun birthday idea or an intimate date night with a difference? We’re loving the recently launched “donut boats” that can be hired for day or night-time dining cruises. Equipped with built-in grills, coolers, audio systems, umbrellas and tables that can seat up to nine people, The Floating Donut Company’s boats – each with its own captain – depart from Ola Beach Club Jetty at Siloso Beach, Sentosa, and cruise along the coast. Starting from $58 per adult ($28 per child), lunch and dinner cruises (1.5 to two hours) include a choice of Classic Barbecue (steak, chicken and sausage), Fish Barbecue (salmon, seabass and prawns) or DIY Burgers, plus side dishes and dessert (doughnuts, of course!); wine and champagne by the bottle can be ordered, too. If you’re looking for a shorter excursion, there are also various 30-to-90-minute cruise options ($28 to $58). For more information, call 9756 8666 or visit flodoco.com.
