With a career already in the financial world, ZAK LO, a passionate and practicing artist himself, set up Livingwithart in 2003, believing that affordable art could and should be brought into all living spaces.

The flagship gallery in the Tan Boon Liat Building comprises over 1,000 artworks, vases and sculptures, while there are more than 850 twodimensional art pieces in the Toa Payoh Showroom, and an additional 200 items at Swingby at Thomson Plaza. The sheer volume and variety on offer means there is fantastic choice for homeowners, with no limitations in terms of style, design or size.

How is Livingwithart able to supply such variety? “I work alongside 15 talented full-time consultants, designers and artists to create unique pieces to suit different spaces,” says Zak. “We incorporate feng shui elements, we frame customers’ art, and we do not inflate prices to boost artists’ egos.”

While pieces are selected from around the world, there is a particular emphasis on supporting the work of local artists. Walk around the Tan Boon Liat space and you will see colourful Murano glasswork from Italy alongside textural pieces by Singaporean artists, large traditional canvases, triptychs, bronze sculptures and much more. Pieces can be customised by colour, theme, size, style and medium, giving much greater flexibility to buyers.

“We particularly love bright, cheery colours and interesting sculptures,” says Zak. “They make great conversation pieces.”
