Leekaja Beauty Salon

- – Leanda Rathmell

A little over six months ago, I sent my hair to proverbial rehab. Years of bleach had caused irreparable damage, so I decided to cut it short and go back to my natural colour; a practical decision that meant I could avoid the necessity of chemical touch-ups, toners, hair dryers and straighteners. The chemical hiatus did wonders in bringing back the strength to my locks, but admittedly the single-tone colour and heavy Singapore humidity left my mop looking a little lacklustre; it was time to get back into the hot seat!

For answers, I turned to Leekaja, a worldfamous Korean salon with more than 200 salons around the globe. Testament to their bid for perfection, not only does every member of staff here seem to rock perfect hair, but these same tall standards run through every level of the business, including tasteful and novel interiors, and a fully-stocked café serving complimentary barista coffee and freshly baked pastries and fruit.

To achieve the boost I was looking for without undoing any progress I had made, my stylist Jun suggested gentle highlights and the Cinderella Treatment, an organic alternative to chemical treatments that coats the hair in a nourishing and protective layer without compromising volume.

The process began with the application of ultra-fine Shiseido highlights, followed by an intensive, deep-cleansing shampoo to strip the hair of residue. The treatment is applied and meticulously ironed in. After my hair was washed, Jun dried it without a brush, just his hand effortlessly gliding through to reveal frizzfree, shiny locks with a touch of colour and dimension.

Weeks later, avoiding the hair dryer is easier than ever. I’m able to let my hair dry naturally and frizz-free. Best part is, if I continue with the right aftercare products, I’m told these effects can last for at least three months.
