What are your three favourite places to eat or drink in the neighbourhood?

Chomp Chomp Food Centre in Serangoon Gardens. I love that it’s super convenient – just a 15-minute walk away from my place. The 724 Ang Mo Kio Food Centre also has every type of local food available and is very affordable. Kovan has lots of hipster cafés and more local food. My favourite dish at each spot would be wonton noodles, fried carrot cake and Punggol nasi lemak respectively!

What are the best places to shop at in the neighbourhood?

Giant Express for groceries. Also, Chong Boon Market for aromatics like ginger and spring onions and other items like eggs and tofu.

What are some fun or interesting things to do in the neighbourhood?

Swimming at Ang Mo Kio Swimming Complex. I also love that I’m able to jog to Sengkang, Upper Thomson and Yio Chu Kang from here.

What’s one thing you’d never change?

The friendly vibe.

How about one thing you would change?

Cyclists and electric bike users who don’t notify pedestrians when passing by.

If the city gave you a million dollars to soup up your street, how would you use it?

Educating everyone on handling their trash properly, and adding more automation systems for waste processing so the amount of labour on it can be reduced.

What are your favourite Singapore spots for taking out-of-town guests?

Haven’t got one yet but I’m looking forward to the islands and parks.

When you’re in need of a dose of culture, where do you go?

Arab Street and Chinatown.

If you’re missing home, what do you do?

Whip up a few Cantonese dishes, catch up with news and friends!
