Lifestyle Editor Dana Koh on all-day dressing and a shot of whisky

-

I may cover the lifestyle beat, but getting ready in the morning can take twice as long as my fellow fashion editors. It is not easy finding an outfit that takes me from the office to an art exhibition at 2pm, a sensor ial tea-pair ing degustation at 7pm, followed by a postdinner cocktail bar crawl that always ends past midnight. Relying on an LBD just isn’t going to cut it. Days like these call for a dress that works just as well under a bomber jacket (3) as it is glamorous on its own—like this ankle-grazing Versace number (4), with flashes of skin showing through its striped mesh and citrus yellow lining. Pair it with metallic sneakers or strappy sandals with gilded column heels (9) from Paul Andrew’s debut footwear collection for Ferragamo. Then, top it off with the season’s plethora of gold accessor ies that help transition any ensemble from brunch to dinner—you can’t go wrong with Tiffany & Co.’s HardWear necklace (2) and hoop earrings from Swarovski (8), plus a pair of Prada glasses (5) to keep things sharp no matter the hour. And like my nightcap of choice—a whisky neat— the finishing touch should be a dark, smoky-sweet fragrance, like Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather (7), Serge Lutens’ L’eau Froide, or Frederic Malle’s Bois d’Orage with notes of earthy vetiver, spicy pimento and enigmatic incense.
