Forty-one years after his death, the works of pivotal American photographer Minor White are being placed in the spotlight once again with an exhibition at the Loewe Galler y in Madrid. Entitled “Minor White: Metaphors”, the retrospective of 40 original prints brings White’s masterful eye for composition, and deep understanding of light and shadows, to the foreground. From cityscapes and studies of the male form, to abstract takes on nature and other subject matters, White’s images are charged with energy and poetr y in equal measure—reminding us why the lensman was once recognised as one of the 20th centur y’s greatest photographers. Organised by the Loewe Foundation, the exhibition marks the foundation’s seventh annual participation in PHotoEspaña, Madrid’s International Festival of Photography and Visual Arts. On from now to 25 August at Loewe Galler y at Gran Via, 8 in Madrid.
